SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:The service will be held so that people can come and go as they need. There will be a a series of tables that people can visit and reflect and pray at for as long as they like. The last stop will be on the chancel for a blessing and ashes from Pastor Karen. The church will be open from 4:30 to 6 p.m. If Pastor Karen knows that someone is running a little earlier/later\, she is happy to accommodate that. \nYou’ve heard it said that we are dust. Well\, God makes beautiful things from dust! Drop in at the church between 4:30 and 6 p.m. and spend a little or a lot of quiet time (you choose — the time is unstructured) at four tables that invite you to reflect and pray about your walk through life with Jesus. End your time with a blessing and ashes. This worship is family friendly.\n\nAsh Wednesday is the first day of Lent\, the season leading up to Easter. We are always pleased to welcome visitors.\n\nAsh Wednesday is a Christian holy day of prayer and fasting. It derives its name from the placing of repentance ashes on the foreheads of participants. The ashes are prepared by burning palm leaves from the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebrations.

SUMMARY:Souper Bowl of Caring
DESCRIPTION:Souper Bowl of Caring\, February 1 \nSome people love the Super Bowl\, but each year our minds turn to soup. That is\, we collect super amounts of soup cans\, packets\, boxes\, and pouches of delicious\, nutritious soup to share with hungry neighbors. \n Between now and February 1\, let’s collect all the soups we can\, and see if we can top last year’s count of over 150! \nAs usual\, Pastor Karen’s bringing soup for potluck lunch on February 1 (probably some outlandish British recipe)\, and you can\, too—or bread! Any soup that’s left over will get shared out\, so bring containers!
